Headband by Tenacious Textiles

Excuse the badly aimed, iPhone-and-mirror picture:

I mentioned in a previous post that I bought a headband from my friend Christy at Tenacious Textiles.  Here is a picture of me wearing it with my new springtime haircut.  Christy has great sewing skills and she makes the cutest small items.

Traveling

I plan on traveling at the end of this year.  So far, my plan is to go up to San Francisco and Sonoma, and from there, up to Vancouver, Canada.

After that, I have no clue.  I know that I want to go to Montreal, Quebec, Canada.  Where else should I go?  When I’m back in the U.S., I want to Chicago, IL and Austin, TX.  Hopefully I’ll time it right so the colder places will be visited in the spring, when it’s not so cold.

So my original plan of having products out for Winter 2010 will not come to fruition.  I’ve pushed it back a year.  Hopefully by then, I’ll have more inspiration, won’t feel so antsy and angsty, and will have more experience out in the world, being hippie as shit.

High-Low Tech: TearDrop

Related to LilyPad, except using paper rather than fabric.

TearDrop is a kit that allows people to explore the creative and practical potentials of paper-based computing.

The kit enables people to paint functional interactive devices on paper. These might include painted sensors and actuators, functioning user interface sketches, beautiful drawings that integrate functionality and aesthetics, and working schematic drawings.

Cross-Stitch Stylophone

This is amazing. Uses Lilypad to create a Stylophone in fabric. Here is a link to flickr user _syano’s flickr set for the Cross-Stitch Stylophone. via Craftzine.com.

Underfull – the tablecloth that turns spilling into poetry from Kristine Bjaadal on Vimeo.

This is amazing.  At first it looks like a very plain table cloth, but once you spill something on it, it unleashes a very pretty pattern.

The Herb Gardener: Homemade Herbed Cheese

The Herb Gardener: Homemade Herbed Cheese.

Now that spring time is here, I really need to get my garden back into better shape. I have everything needed to spice up this yogurt cheese in my garden (er, except for the paprika, onion powder, salt, and pepper :P) so it’ll be really fresh and delicious!

Tenacious Textiles: Where Wit Meets Whimsy.

My best friend, recently married and moved far away from me, added some adorable items to her Etsy shop!  I snatched up a headband.  I’ve been meaning to make or buy one, but just never got around to it.  Thanks Christy!  Check our her shop…  I want the Scaredy Sugar Glider, but I think I’m going to save my money for some other fashion items she may put out!

Sewing machine, music, and turn signals

Sewing Machine melody from lara grant on Vimeo.

This person used conductive thread and her sewing machine to create music!  This is pretty amazing.  I might have to try playing around with conductive thread and electronic fashion sometime… there are some pretty cool projects out there, like this Turn Signal Jacket on Instructables.

As if I needed more hobbies.
